Bold and timely decision of Vladimir Putin

The Russian President Vladimir Putin’s proclamation to withdraw their forces from Syria is a gamble by him and it can also be stated as a step towards establishing lasting peace in that region. No time limit of complete withdrawal of Russian forces has been fixed yet. Despite it Putin’s initiative can be treated as a bold step. Putin has decided this after talking with the Syrian President Assad Al Bashar. It is said that the decision has been taken just after the approval from Assad. The Russian Defence Minister told on Tuesday that Russia has proceeded to withdraw its military instruments from Syria. Taking this step in Syria, Putin has gambled. He has given a message to the rest of world that the Russia wants peace in Syria. Now other nations including the US have to take initiatives. The Russian President knew that they could not stay long in Syria. He didn’t want to make Syria another Afghanistan. Seeking the chance, he proclaimed the withdrawal of Russian forces. This proclamation came just when the Syrian peace talks are about to start in Geneva. This Russian proclamation is being treated as surprising in diplomatic circles. Putin had talks with the US President Barak Obama also on this subject. It has been reported that both the leaders have emphasized to accelerate the process of finding the political solution of the dispute prevailing in the region. It can’t be said yet how much the efforts of peace keeping will succeed but undoubtedly Putin’s decision of military interference in Syria was as bold as the decision of withdrawal is mature. Whatever may be the perspective of decision to send armed forces in Syria six months ago, undoubtedly it has helped to much extent to put an effective control over the constantly increasing power of ravenous terrorist outfit like ISIS. Putin’s  step will also put a pressure on Syrian President Assad Al Bashar. Many nations including the US are demanding to replace him. Putin is supporting him. Now peace talks are being held in Geneva to finish the clash in Syria. Appreciating Russia, the UN Security Council has stated it a positive step towards this peace talks. However, the timely and bold decision of forces withdrawal has its meatiness only if the entire international powers should now solve the violent issue of Syria.
