Undoubtedly the time passed a year ahead but the terrorists once again slaughtered students in Pakistan. The terrorists attacked an army school in Peshawar in December 2014. 140 innocents lost their lives in this attack.
The age of the perpetrators of the attack was not much. The terrorists were in the age group of 18 to 25 years. It is unfortunate these terrorists resorting to the violence targeted the innocent children for the sake of their politics. What did these innocents do to them? And they have faith in the same Islam under the pretext of protecting which you do the bloodshed. If an assessment is made, atleast 650 schools-colleges in Pakistan have fallen prey to the attacks of the terrorists. As per Global Terrorism Maryland America studies, amongst the attacks on educational institutions in Pakistan between 1970 – 2014 the most frightening was the attack on Army Public School on 14th December 2014 in which 140 children were killed.
The time passed a year ahead and the terrorists again slaughtered the students in Pakistan. The prestigious Bacha Khan University became the target this time. The terrorists fired indiscriminately here on Wednesday killing 25 people. Most of them are students. About 50 persons have been injured in the attack. The four terrorists involved in the attack were killed. Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TPP) has claimed the responsibility for this attack. This outfit had also killed 132 students in Army School in Peshawar on 31st December 2014. Entering the university the terrorists started firing on students and teachers. As per media reports about 60-70 students were hit on the head but it had not been confirmed. At the time of the incident, three thousand students and 600 guests were present in the university.
There are some similarities in this attack on Bacha Khan University at Charsadda in Pak and the attack on Pathankot Airbase in India. Terrorists were in the army uniform in both attacks. The assailants were of the age between 20-25 years in both attacks. The assailants wore suicide jacket in both attacks. It’s by chance that in both attacks the security forces killed the assailants and they couldn’t explode themselves. Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan’s commander Umar Mansoor has claimed responsibility for the attack. Mansoor is also called a child killer. 13 outfits had formed Tehrik-e-Taliban. It has also an aim to enforce Sharia law in Pakistan.
At the time of the attack 600 outsiders had also came to attend the Mushaira being organized on the occasion of anniversary of the Bacha Khan, the founder of the Bacha Khan University in Charsadda district 50 kms away from Peshawar. The attack has exposed the success of Pakistan army’s campaign Zarb-e-Azb. The purpose of this campaign started from the areas adjoining Pak-Afghan border in June 2014 was to finish other terrorist outfits including Tehrik-e-Taliban. Before this attack the Pak army had claimed in its website that it has hit the backbone of all the terrorist outfits including Tehrik-e-Taliban on Pak-Afghan border.
Besides their structure, sleeper cell has almost been demolished. It is clear from the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University one year after the attack on Army Public School in Peshawar that Pak army has failed in its mission. It’s clear from the attack occurred 18 months after the operation that the terrorists’ back has not broken. It also reveals the difference between the response time of Indian security agencies and Pak security agencies. Pathankot attack was also of such kind and our brave soldiers not only killed all the assailants but the number of casualties in the attack was also less than 10. In this attack at Peshawar officially 25 persons have died and more than 50 persons are injured. We are also surprised over this attack.
It’s the right time Pakistan should seek help of India to finish these terrorists. Terrorism has neither any religion nor any creed or caste. This attack is also a clear message for those forces (Pakistan) that differ in good and bad terrorism. Terrorism has housed in Pakistan, the fruits of the seed sown by the Pak army and ISI have now come to them. This is the appropriate time that Pakistan must eliminate these jehadi outfits from its soil.
Pakistan is also in a critical stage as the US’s Afghanistan policy has created a crisis for South Asia particularly for Pakistan and India. Despite the 13 year long efforts the US couldn’t break the back of Taliban and is now engaged in compromising to get rid of them. Taking this advantage, these terrorists have become a part of the social life there by reorganizing them and with the help of Pak army and ISI. Stating the Pak government (Nawaz Sharief) as pro-US they’ve started a war against it. As we condole at this moment of sorrow for Pakistan, it should atleast understand it that it’s benefit lies in eliminating the terrorism with the help of India.

Readers would remember when Pathankot terrorist attack occurred and the role of Gurdaspur SP Salwinder Singh came under limelight ; I had written in this very column that Salwinder Singh is somehow involved in this attack. My guess was right. Salwinder Singh was involved in the drug smuggling across the border. It has been clear in his six-day interrogation in the NIA headquarters. Due to greed his vehicle went into the hands of the terrorists and they proceeded uninterruptedly because of the blue beacon on the vehicle. Salwinder’s involvement is now heading towards final stage. The decision to undergo polygraph test means that concerned person is not only a suspect but has not been cooperating with the investigation agencies trying to unearth the nefarious plot.. Investigating officers also believe that they have got such inputs from several sources that Salwinder Singh is linked with the drug racket. He used to help in crossing the consignment of drugs coming from Pakistan, hiding the consignment for some time and then forwarding the same, for which he was paid handsomely. At times he was given diamond jewellery in lieu of the money. The only reason for taking jeweller Rajesh Verma was that he used to identify the diamond on the spot and quote the price. Investigating NIA officers suspect that jeweller Rajesh Verma (who was driving then) slowed the vehicle mistakenly identifying the terrorists as drug smugglers. Taking this advantage, terrorists got hold of them this easily. That is why the terrorists didn’t kill them. Besides Rajesh Verma, two more jewellers are also believed to be involved in this syndicate. Salwinder used to take help from his two cooks and two or three local people also. Besides big drug businessmen, small paddlers were also sought for help. It’s also being confirmed that Salwinder along with his cook Madan Gopal and jeweller Rajesh Verma had gone to the shrine in the Baniyal area on 31st December night just for the deal. NIA has interrogated Salwinder along with the cook and the priest of the shrine face-to-face. Statements of Salwinder do not match them. Not only this, electronic evidences mobilized about their activities too don’t match with the statement. Like Salwinder insists on visiting the shrine at nine pm while his vehicle was seen at a toll plaza at half past ten at night. The way to the shrine via this toll plaza takes one hour. Besides this, Salwinder is unable to give a solid reply for taking such a long route in return while it was late enough? Salwinder had gone to the shrine in Baniyal area on 31st December night just for the deal. He had to receive the payment for the previous consignment and help cross the fresh consignment. But the people came happened to be terrorists instead of the drug mafia people. Salwinder has admitted nothing so far. Either he twists the questions of the interrogating officers or doesn’t reply. Why did he take a cook and a jeweller with him instead of his security and driver in border area in so late at night? Salwinder has not answered to this question so far. Lie detector test of Salwinder has been completed on Tuesday. NIA may also get the lie detector test of Salwinder’s cook and the priest of the shrine and Rajesh Verma, if necessary. Let’s see if the lie detector test succeeds in exposing the real story of Salwinder Singh’s involvement in the Pathankot Airbase attack?

After Pathankot attack It wasn’t difficult for Indian Agencies to conclude that the terrorists had come from Pakistan and the attack was planned, executed in Pakistan itself. Immediately the evidence of this attack was provided to Pakistan but as it was expected Pakistan in its old traditional predictable method conducted raids at some places for show and also publicized the news of taking some persons into custody. However the best part is that they didn’t confirm officially the arrest of the Pathankot terror attack mastermind Maulana Masood Azhar. It’s also reported that the Pak government has categorically denied the phone number being Pakistani from which the terrorists had spoken with their Pak handlers after reaching Pathankot. In fact when the Pak Prime Minister held the meeting of senior officers for two consecutive days; thereafter it was reported in Pak media through official sources that India has not provided any strong evidence. As per Pak media Maulana Masood Azhar has been taken into custody. But it has not yet been officially confirmed by the Pak government. The action is for show and may have been taken so that the sequence of talks with India is not hindered and also escape from shame in the international world. The experience and record of Pakistan so far tells just that stern action has never been taken against the terrorists sects creating carnage and terror in India from Pakistani soil. Pakistan firstly denies the terrorist activities of its people in India, then asks for evidence and later on says these are insufficient. With this it also boasts the neutrality of its judiciary. After terrorist attack of 26\11 Mumbai attack under pressure from India and international forum Pakistan had played drama of arresting Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Mohammed Syed and its top commander Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhawi earlier also but they are moving freely in Pakistan now. Officially Pakistan has put a ban on terrorist sects like Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed but these groups are still active and with fake names openly vomiting poison on Pak territory against India. Hizbul Mujahidin’s chief Syed Salauddin is also hiding in Pakistan. But no action has been taken against him till date. Salauddin admitted in an interview in 2012 that Pak intelligence agency ISI and Pak army have given free hand to the Jehadi organisations, be it Jaish-e-Mohammed or Lashkar-e-Taiba. It is because of the strategic, financial and moral help given by ISI and Pakistan Army that these organisations have not onle expanded their base but have become very lethal in their strikes. Within last five years Jaish-e-Mohammed has imparted military training to more than 500 terrorists in its palatial headquarters spread in 18 acres at Bahawalpur. As per intelligence agencies after Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed is the largest threat for India. It is also a matter of concern that the intelligence agencies of the entire world keep vigil on Lashkar but not on Jaish. The mastermind of the terrorist attack on Pathankot airbase Masood Azhar is the chief of Jaish. Azhar’s name has been in limelight in hijacking of Indian plane in 1999 and attack of Indian Parliament in the year 2001. He is also responsible for the first sucide attack on Indian soil, when a 17 year terrorist of Jaish-e-Mohammed blasted the Maruti car laden with explosives before the army headquarters at Srinagar. Recently, the US president, Barak Obama also for once admitted the truth. At the fag end of his Presidential term and the last State of the Union address Obama said that Pakistan is a heaven for the terrorists. He warned that Pakistan-Afghanistan will continue to be a safe shelter for new terrorist networks and terrorism will continue for decades in both these countries. I acts of terror actions are to be taken on the basis of clues and signals in international crimes especially in matters like terrorism. Due to such experiences now Indian public opinion is not ready to fall in the trap of Pakistan i.e. perhaps Pakistan may not be able to misguide through its method of dispensing contradictory information. The media reports of the arrest of Masood Azhar and his associates may have a purpose to mislead the US alongwith India since several US senators are opposing the sale of F-16 fighter planes to Pakistan. It is clear that Pak should not be trusted until India has solid evidence that Pakistan in serious to finish the terrorist sects threatening India. It’s not sufficient that Masood Azhar and some of his associates have been taken into custody. India should not fall into the trap of Pakistan.

Both Pakistan and China have decided to challenge the honour, prestige and sovereignty of India. Pakistan doesn’t refrain from its nefarious activities these days. Now Pakistan is preparing to give constitutional status to Gilgit-Baltistan in its occupation. Pakistan’s step may increase the problems of India since India treats this area as a part of the disputed Kashmir. Pakistan is now trying to constitutionally make Gilgit-Baltistan, an integral part of Pakistan. To do so, it has constituted a high level committee. Dialogues with the local puppet government are being flouted. Pakistan is going to include Gilgit-Baltistan in its constitution for the first time. It may be noted that there is no mention of Gilgit-Baltistan in Pak constitution applied since 1973. Pakistan got the administrative responsibility of the area under the said Karachi Pact. Cunningly with malafide intentions Pakistan fudged the statistics by changing rules in 1974. In 2009 a 33-member council was formed. It is widely believed that Pakistan is doing all this to please its friend China which had expressed concerned regarding the ambitious 46 million dollar economic corridor passing through this strategic zone. Gilgit-Baltistan in the North is the only such strategic area which is directly connected with China. This is also the important outlet to China-Pak economic corridor that connects Gwadar port including road network, highway, railway and investment parks of Western China and Southern Pakistan. In fact India had lodged its objection to Pakistan for passing of this economic corridor running through the POK. Presently Pakistan considers the entire POK including Gilgit-Baltistan a disputed area and it’s also not been mentioned in its constitution. Sajjad-ul-Haq, the spokesperson of Gilgit-Baltistan’s Chief Minister, Hafij-ul-Rahman, indicating that formally the POK is a semi-autonomous area and that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharief has constituted a high level committee to consider this issue. On 9th June 2015 the puppet Prime Minister of POK Chaudhery Abdul Majeed had also said that Gilgit-Baltistan is part of J&K and it needs to be treated as a province. In 1994 the Pak Supreme Court had admitted in its judgement that Gilgit-Baltistan (North Zone then) is an integral part of the State of Jammu & Kashmir. To add fuel to the fire China has also decided to build a mega dam in the POK. A Chinese state-owned company has also confirmed that it is going to build this dam. It signals that despite the strong protest of India China is working on big projects in the POK. GCTC among the biggest state-owned hydro power companies of China has entered into an agreement to build a dam in the POK. As per Pak media reports China has signed a 30 year tariff agreement for this. India has already lodged objections on Chinese activities but China has mentioned it as pure commercial activity. It says that there was no bias on Kashmir issue while signing this project. It also said that China has an indifferent attitude over any dispute between India and Pakistan. It is clear that neither Pakistan nor China is concerned over the concerns of India. Both are marching ahead with their plans and India watches them as a mute spectator.
