Every year the Prime Minister’s address from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day is normally prism. But it is not just a formality; it’s also a conversation of the Prime Minister with the people of the Nation. It’s also the self-analysis of the post-independence years and also the assessment of the government’s achievements. Remembering the last address of Prime Minister Modi, we can say that he broke the tradition to some extent, when he emphasized over the sanitation and girls’ empowerment, but this year he didn’t hesitate to explain the performance of his government. Is it due to the coming elections in some states? May be, however, no Indian Prime Minister in the history of the Independent India had openly attacked Pakistan naming it. The way Prime Minister giving a direct message to Pakistan on terrorism referred to Kashmir in its occupation (POK) and Baluchistan, is indicative of the mass transformation in the foreign policy. Besides condemning the efforts of sheltering the terrorism in his speech, he also referred to Gilgit and Baluchistan along with the Pak Occupied Kashmir. The reference is in fact a result of aggressiveness in the Indian approach within last few days, which has given a new frown to the foreign policy. It’s clear that India has got nothing from the existing policy. Now when it’s clear that Pakistan needs to be replied in its own language, then it becomes more essential that the changes in the foreign policy are not confined to mere statements. Prime Minister’s address has made it clear that now India will not hear the Kashmir tune of Pakistan staying silent, but it’ll be also given equal response. Pakistan has been raising the Kashmir issue as a matter of human rights over the platforms worldwide, while it has the own worst record in Baluchistan regarding the human rights. In fact, it needs to do something more than mere saying. Also for the reason, as we have been defensive yet in case of policy regarding Pakistan and confined upto the level of mere statements. It’s not going to matter by mere discussions in case of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) and Baluchistan. India should openly support Baluchis as Pakistan does with separatists in Jammu & Kashmir. If there is war of Independence in Jammu & Kashmir, it’s also the same in Baluchistan. Foreign policy of the changing India is also changing.
