Karunanidhi and his family have been totally cornered

This is “kalayuga” and in ” kalayuga” there are people who abuse Lord Rama, but those who abuse him get  caught and with the help of the stick that Almighty wields, the  person comes to his senses. Something like this has been happening to DMK chief M Karunanidhi. He is the same Karunanidhi who had asked from which university Ram had got an engineering degree when the Ram Setu controversy was at its peak. Karunanidhi will have to pay   a price for having abused Lord Ram. Karunanidhi is gradually getting more and more closely involved in the 2G scam. And in spite of all his tantrums, the Congress leadership has not been taken in by his blackmailing tactics. Not only this, Congress in a way has told him in no uncertain terms that he is free to withdraw support to the UPA government at the Centre. But in the new circumstances it has become impossible to bail him out. In spite of all his efforts, his favourite party-man and former union minister A Raja is cooling his heels in Delhi’s Tihar Jail. And now his daughter and Member of Parliament, Kanimozhi,  has become an accused in the 2G spectrum scam. In its additional chargesheet, the CBI has named her as accused.  With his daughter getting involved, Karunanidhi’s entire  family seems to be getting  involved in the  scam. In the fresh chargesheet that  the CBI has filed, it has said that through  the much talked about firm D B Reality,  Kalaignar TV had  got a sum of Rs. 214 crores in its account. Kalaignar TV chief had manipulated the papers and shown the money received as loan. To make a ground for showing itself as clean, the channel returned the loan. The CBI says that money was given to those companies which had got benefits from spectrum disbursement. As A Raja was said to be under the special influence of Kanimozhi, he made Kalaignar TV as a facilitating arm. It is significant that the channel is used as a publicity medium for the DMK.  Karunanidhi’s wife  Dayaluammal was also to be made an accused in the case, but she was not made an accused because she was  just a mere  silent partner in the TV company. Along with Kanimozhi, the director of Kalaignar TV, Sharad Kumar has also been made an accused. It has been found that Kumar had 20 percent of the shares in the company. Sources close to the DMK say that although Dayaluammal may not have been made an accused, she could also get involved in the legal tangle. Since she has 60 per cent shares in the company, how can she escape responsibility for the functioning of the company? The whole matter could also create a rift in the family because while one of Karunanidhi’s wives, Dayaluammal has been spared for the  present, his second wife, Rajathi Ammal’s  daughter, Kanimozhi,  has got entangled in the scam.  There has always been tension in Karunanidhi’s family for a long time on account of various reasons. And the CBI chargesheet could fuel more tension within the family. And whatever may be left could be filled by the results of the Tamilnadu Assembly elections. And if the DMK loses it will also have to forfeit power both at the Centre and state. In God’s abode, there may be delay, but there is no darkness.
