US resolution : Baluchistan should be an independent nation

- Anil Narendra
US has created a new intricacy. Three US senators have moved a resolution in the House of Representatives proposing self-determination right for Pakistan's disturbed Southern Baluchistan province. Tabling the resolution, the Republican Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and two others said Baluch people live in Baluchistan province of Pakistan and also in some parts of Iran and Afghanistan and they should have the right of self-determination and their own sovereign country. They should be allowed to decide their own status. Rohrabacher, Chairman of the Sub Committee on Foreign Affairs, had last week organized a hearing of the Congress on human rights violation in Baluchistan. Rohrabacher said in a statement that the political and ethnic discrimination, which Pakistan is committing is very dangerous. The situation has also further deteriorated as the US is providing financial aid and selling weapons to those in Islamabad, who are abusing the human rights of these people. At present, Baluchistan is part of Pakistan, but since the creation of Pakistan, people of Baluchistan had been demanding creation of an independent Baluchistan. Baluchistan borders Iran in west and the area adjacent to the Iranian border is considered to be the most disturbed one. The western part of Baluchistan borders Afghanistan and the rest lies with Pakistan. The US has the support of NATO in the struggle for freedom of Baluchistan. It wants Baluchistan to become an independent nation by 2013.
We agree that Baluchistan is a disturbed area and Pakistan is blatantly violating human rights there. A recent example of this is a Baluch, Abdul Qadir, whose son disappeared and his body was recovered in 2011. Abdul Qadir Baluch's 29-year old son of Abdul Jaleel Reki disappeared on Feb the 13th 2009 and Baluch claims that Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI had kidnapped his son. The disfigured body of Abdul Jaleel Reki was found last year on November 22 in the Pakistani area adjacent to the Iranian border. Abdul Qadir told BBC that his son had received three gun wounds on his chest and his back was burned with hot iron and cigarettes. Abdul Jaleel's only fault was that he had been demonstrating against the Pakistan Army and the ISI. He said that about 14,000 persons are still missing, of which more than two hundred are women. No doubt, the human right record in Baluchistan is quite bad, but it doesn't mean that US should interfere in the matter and conspire to separate it from the country. It is also being said that in fact, US secretly wants to keep watch over Iran and with this intention, it wants to establish its base in Baluchistan. According to media reports, it wants to create pressure by moving a resolution to recognize Baluchis' right to self determination. Pak media quoting an official has said that the US wants to use our territory against Iran and we will not allow this to happen. Two officials of Pak security agencies and diplomatic circles have confirmed that American diplomats and military leaders had sought permission to operate its agents from Baluchistan area near the Iranian border. This has been revealed immediately after the allegations of kidnapping against Pak security agencies and tabling of resolution in the US House of Representatives. Pakistan National Assembly, the lower house has also condemned the US resolution on Baluchistan. The largest militant outfit of Pakistan held demonstration on Monday. Hafiz Mohammad Syed, the founder of Lashkar-e-Taiba also took part in these demonstrations, and who despite restrictions on his movements, entered the federal capital Islamabad. Pakistan government, Army and public all are opposing this US resolution. All of them consider this interference in Pakistan's internal affairs and it has some malicious intentions.
