Headley confirmes Ishrat Jahan was a Fidayeen Bomber

Daud Gilani alias David Colman Headley, the US terrorist of Pakistani origin, giving his testimony in 26/11 Mumbai attacks made a sensational disclosure on Thursday that the college student Ishrat Jahan killed in the said fake encounter in 2004 was a suicidal bomber of Lashkar-e-Taiba and was on a dangerous terror mission in Inda. Headley, in his statement to NIA officials had claimed this very fact earlier also in 2013 also but the then Congress led UPA government deleted this part from his statement owing to political reasons. The so-called secular leaders had specially politicized it, but Headley’s recent statement before the Mumbai Court has cleared the question mark over her not being a terrorist. This was such a case in which these pseudo secular leaders had crossed all the limits to polish their politics. They neither spared the political leaders, nor the senior police officers nor the officials of intelligence and investigation agencies. When this encounter occurred Amit Shah was the Home Minister of Gujarat. Due to the political attacks of the secular leaders not only he had to quit his office but also had to spend many years in jail. After release from jail he had to stay out of Gujarat as per the terms of the bail. Giving him the clean chit in May 2014 the CBI said that there is not enough evidence against him, hence he can’t be prosecuted. Also accused in Ishrat Jahan case former IPS DG Banjara said that Headley’s statement has proved the action of the Gujarat Police was  right. He said on Thursday that it proves that Ishrat was a terrorist and the encounter in which she was killed was right. Banjara was the DGP of Crime Branch of Ahmedabad who had killed Ishrat Jahan and others in the said encounter. Banjara is presently on bail. He said that the encounter was politicized to take it in a wrong direction while the encounter was real and the cases on police officers were fabricated. While the former Special Director of IB Rajendra Kumar claimed on Thursday that someone tried to use him by dragging his name in Ishrat case. On being asked that did the CBI had a directive  to intentionally harass him by making him accused in the said encounter case, Kumar said that I have not fallen prey to intentionally harassing by the CBI. Someone tried to use me as a pawn to destroy the democratic fabric in the country but failed. It is another matter that I didn’t become the pawn. It is notable that CBI had filed a charge sheet against Rajendra Kumar and three other officials of Intelligence Bureau (IB). Despite the denial of Law Ministry, CBI had charged 1970 batch IPS Rajendra Kumar and three officials of IB with Section 302 (murder), criminal conspiracy 120(B), kidnapping for murder 346, 364, 368 (detention with bad intentions) and Section 29 of Arms Act. Headley’s testimony puts serious questions on the then Home Minister P. Chidambaram and CBI Director Ranjit Sinha. Ministry of Home Affairs had withdrawn the affidavit stating Ishrat a terrorist, while Sinha tried to accuse officials of Intelligence Bureau (IB) alerting about the intentions of Ishrat’s group. The prosecutor in the Mumbai Court Ujjawal Nikam asked Headley: Is there a women wing in Lashkar? Headley: Yes. Nikam: Who heads it? Headley: Abu Hanjar’s mother Abu Amiyan. Nikam: Is there any woman Fidayeen in Lashkar? Headley: I don’t know. Nikam: Can you name these Fidayeen? Headley: I can’t. Nikam: Was there any operation in India? Headley: Yes, I heard Lakhwi (Lashkar commander) saying to Mujammil Bhatt that the operation failed due to a woman Fidayeen. I believed that she was an Indian, not a Pakistani but was a member of Lashkar. Nikam: How many women were in Lashkar? Headley: I don’t remember but there was a woman, who was killed in a police shoot out at a check post. Encounter occurred in which state, I don’t know. Nikam: I tell you three names was she one of these? Noor Jahan Begum, Ishrat Jahan and Mumtaz Begum?  Headley: Ishrat Jahan. It is notable that Mumbai resident 19 year old Ishrat Jahan, Javed Sheikh, Amjad Ali, Akbar Rana and Zeeshan Jauhar were killed in an encounter with Gujarat Police on 15th July 2004. These terrorists were on a mission to assassinate the then Chief Minister of Gujarat Narendra Modi. According to Headley Major Iqbal of ISI used to send him funds regularly. In September 2006 he had given 25000 dollars and in 2008 fake Indian notes also. Despite the disclosure of Headley Congress is not refraining of its actions. Party Leader Manish Tiwari said that if gone through the statement of Headley that Ishrat was a terrorist yet the law doesn’t permit that she be killed in fake encounter. Law provides that action should be taken after taking the accused in custody as happened in the case of Ajmal Kasab. Manish said prime question is it that the encounter was fake and the court has also admitted it. On the other hand BJP has become more aggressive after the testimony of Headley. After the disclosure of Headley, Union Minister Giriraj Singh, targeting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and said that Nitish has made a fun of national security for vote politics. Nitish should apologize for saying Ishrat is  a daughter of Bihar. BJP National Secretary Shrikant Sharma said that many leaders like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, P. Chidambaram had politicized the death of Ishrat. It is the tradition of Congress leaders that they shed tears on the death of terrorists forgetting the martyrdom of patriot soldiers. This too happened at the time of Batla House encounter. That is why Congress hid the fact when Headley told Ishrat a Lashkar Fidayeen learlier.
