David Cameron once again forms Govt. in the United Kingdom

The United Kingdom went on polls on Thursday. The Conservatives lead by David Cameron has registered a thumping win in the polls. Prime Minister David Cameron had contested for the second term. Voters in large number came out of the house due to the good weather. Initially the polling was slow but gradually there were queues at the polling centres. Indians including 15 lakh migrants and 6,15,000 students of Indian origin had a greater role. Britain has the election process like India wherein the party securing maximum votes is declared winner instead of better vote percentage. Polling experts also failed here as they had professed of a hung parliament in 650 member House of Commons. Magical figure of 326 members was needed to get majority in 650 member House of Commons which has been achieved by the party of David Cameron. Results of 649 seats out of 650 seats have been declared. Leader of the 331 seat winning Conservative Party, David Cameron is formally meeting Queen Elizabeth on Friday evening to form the government. Major opposition party (LAB) has got 232 seats. Scottish National Party (SNP) has registered historical victory by winning 50 seats out of 59 seats. Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) has won 8 seats while others have got 23 seats. 20 year old Mahori Black has been elected as the youngest Member of Parliament. For the first time a people’s representative of such an age in Britain has been elected in the history of 350 years. 10 Members of Parliament of the Indian origin have been elected to the House of Commons. Last time Cameron had formed a coalition government, now he can form it alone. It is clear the British have supported his policies. Public has seriously taken his proposal to get referendum done for quitting the European Union. The opposition party was clearly opposing the referendum proposal of Cameron. It appears that the British are in favour of the referendum. Now Cameron will have to fulfil his commitment in which he had committed to get the referendum done by the end of 2017. An important factor in these polls is the thumping success of Scottish National Party (SNP). It is believed that voters of the Indian origin had an important role in this win. This party had an important election issue for the return of Indian students in Scottish Universities. Party is demanding the freedom of Scotland from the very beginning. A referendum was also done on this issue nine months ago in which the public had voted to remain the part of United Kingdom by 55 per cent as against 45 per cent. Now if the referendum is done again, the Scotland may decide to depart. There are so many challenges before Cameron. It is good he is in majority. It may help him in handling them. Congratulations to David Cameron.
