Nepal’s tragedy has once again proved that there is no alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his team in disaster management.
With the landing of first aircraft with relief and rescue force in Kathmandu within six hours of tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown that the team is not only capable but expert also in immediately implementing his decision. Earlier this team has shown its expertise in managing the disaster arisen due to heavy floods in Kashmir valley. Modi himself inspires his team to work with devotion and dedication. Prime Minister had talks with Chief Ministers of earthquake affected Bihar and Sikkim in India, Indian Embassy in Bhutan and President of Nepal within one hour of earthquake on Saturday.
Moreover, high level committee was called up to review the situation within just three hours. After two hours of earthquake, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth was heading the meeting of National Disaster Management Committee (NDMC). Meanwhile, the first aircraft with relief and rescue force was directed to prepare at Hindon Airbase upto 3 p.m. Nripendra Mishra and Ajit Dobhal were passing the directions of prime minister to concerned officials, on the other hand were passing the information from various agencies to the prime minister. Such a quick and good response from Prime Minister was perhaps because rescue and relief work was done with the same speed when the earthquake broke in Gujarat. Shri Narendra Modi has an experience of disaster management so he launched Operation Friendship of relief and rescue so quickly. People of Nepal have expressed their heartfelt gratitude of Modi towards the humanitarian assistance immediately sent from India for earthquake victims in Nepal. Despite facing various difficulties Nepalese seem happy and content for the help from India in this hour of crisis.
Modi’s name is over everyone’s tongue for this help. Not only the people but the Nepalese Government also has expressed its gratitude towards India for this help. UN Secretary General Wan Ki Moon stated without naming India that who have at first extended their help to Nepal are worth congratulation and honour. If there is any country not happy with the promptness and Operation Friendship of relief-rescue of India, that is China. Reports published in Nepali newspapers state that China has objected to Nepal Government over the rescue and relief campaign of India and alleged that Indian helicopters are having a vigil in Chinese area on the pretext of Friendship Campaign. They have even demanded to stop the Friendship Campaign of India.
