RSS wants Party to face elections under Modi’s leadership

The internal rift in the BJP can be gauged by Sanjay Joshi's leaving the Party. First, Sanjay Joshi was disgraced and ousted from the national executive committee and then he was forced to leave the Party. This was done by the Party President Nitin Gadakari at the instance of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Gujarat Chief Minister, Narendra Modi. It is apparent that the real power is RSS and Gadakari is façade behind which it wields power and it has decided to weaken the senior leader Lal Krishan Advani on the one hand and project Narendra Modi as the Prime Minister on the other. That is why the RSS mouthpiece, Organiser in its latest issue, says that the graph of the Congress is fast going down, but it appears that the BJP-led NDA would not be in a position to exploit this situation. It is being projected that Narendra Modi is the only face in the Party that can salvage the Party and that has the capacity to expand the vote bank of the Party throughout the country, like Atal Behari Vajpayee did in 90s. If the RSS has really reached at this decision, why doesn't it openly declare that the RSS and the BJP would face 2014 elections under the leadership of Narendra Modi? Narendra Modi's image is that of orthodox Hinduism. There is a vast difference between the image of Atal Behari Vajpayee and that of Narendra Modi. Atalji used to take all with him. Modi's style of working is quite different. He neither cares for the workers nor for the leaders and the RSS. Now, he looks beyond RSS and BJP. He cares a hoot for them. Till recently, there was discord between Gadkari and Modi, but Gadkari has been forced by the RSS to come to terms with Modi and the Sanjay Joshi issue clearly spells out what price, Gadakari had to pay for this deal. We feel that the RSS is fielding Modi against Advani. The RSS could go to any extent to sideline Advani. When the RSS realized that Atalji is unable to play an active part in the politics, it started undermining Advani and the irony of the matter is that Advaniji himself has by mistake provided it with an excuse. I am referring to the statement about Jinnah. Efforts have already been made to belittle Advani by promoting Rajnath Singh or inciting leaders of the second line against him. But, the bitter truth is that all other BJP leaders appear dwarf-like before Advani. No doubt, Narendra Modi is a worthy and strong leader, but it is doubtful whether he would be acceptable within and outside the BJP. If Narendra Modi is projected as the future Prime Minister, there is sure to be fierce fighting within the Party. Leaders like Sushama Swaraj, Arun Jaitley, Rajnath Singh, Dr. Murali Manohar Joshi may stake their claims for the Prime Ministership. Then will mighty leaders of other NDA constituents like Nitish Kumar, Bal Thakare, Prakash Singh Badal accept Modi? On the other hand, Advaniji is a leader under whose umbrella all NDA constituents may unite. The anti-Congress sentiments are so high that even the Muslims might vote in favour of Advaniji instead of Modi. But, the RSS could go to any extent to beliitle him in spite of his high stature. First, it was Rajnath Singh who was pitted against Advanji, when he failed; Modi is being hoisted, which means that the RSS could go to any extent, but it appears that the RSS is being entangled in its own snare and the strategy of fielding Modi as an alternative to Advani is working against the RSS itself. The RSS is unable to understand how to refuse to Modi's terms? As a result, the RSS is being blackmailed by Modi. In fact, the RSS had never thought that Narendra Modi will be adopting diplomacy which suits him. The way he made RSS leaders like Praveen Togadia insignificant with his political crudeness, similarly, he didn't hesitate to snub his opponents with cunning and manouvering attitude. It is the orthodox image of Modi, which has given BJP a anti-Muslim and a rioter face. Advocates of Hinduism must understand that liberal Hinduism is welcome throughout the country, but violent and fanatic Hinduism will detract even the majority of Hindus. As such, there is no guarantee that Modi will be relevant and acceptable in the central politics. India is not Gujarat. It is not necessary that whatever is accepted in a State would be acceptable to the whole country. It is just the beginning of the ill effects of the wrong politics of the RSS. The experiment, it started against the traditional system of the BJP, has begun to produce distorted results. In simpler words, the RSS has created a bhasmasur in Modi. But, as various RSS newspapers and magazines and various leaders are continuously advising Narendra Modi, he should give up all these efforts and be large-hearted. But, unfortunately, the principle of organization first and leader last has no more relevance to BJP. The BJP has now, like RSS been turned into a private limited company, with Nitin Gadakari as its MD, who is running it like his personal company. We'll have to wait and watch to know that how far Narendra Modi will be successful in comparison to Lal Krishan Advani, who took BJP's two seats in Lok Sabha to 175 seats, but one thing is certain that Modi will have to fight on a number of fronts within BJP. There are two years left for Lok Sabha elections and the anti-Advani campaign can still come to naught. RSS and BJP may try however hard to push Advani behind, but the fact is that the personalities of Nitin Gadakari and Narendra Modi appear dwarfed before Advani at national and international levels. If in the days to come, Advani parts with the BJP, it could lead to the division in the Party, as due to the poor politics of RSS, none of its leaders has faith in others as a result of which there are a number of factions active in the Party. Apparently, the infighting among these factions would weaken the Party and if BJP is forced to face defeat in 2014 general election due to this internal conflict, then full responsibility for this debacle would rest on RSS. Had the RSS been concerned about the BJP, it would never have worked to incite and unite leaders of second line against Advani. If it had a bit of political prudence, then it would not have interfered in the hierarchy starting from Atalji to Advaniji and Dr Murali Manohar Joshi. The fact is that the RSS is itself becoming disoriented and untrustworthy. There was a time, when people used to think that when BJP is such a disciplined party, then how much disciplined would RSS be? But, now people don't differentiate between BJP and RSS and they consider them as two sides of the same coin. Now the decision lies with the RSS, whether it would contest the 2014 Lok Labha elections under the leadership of Advani or that of Narendra Modi?
