Terror revisits America after 12 years

Anil Narendra
There was no terror attack on America since the 9/11. This was what the US officials used to declare with pride and their sense of pride was right as it is near impossible to keep clear of the global terrorism these days. After the revisit of terror after 12 years, terrorists have carried out twin blasts at Boston city of America. This time the marathon at Boston has been targeted. The blasts occurred near the finish line of the marathon resulting in the death of three persons. 176 persons were also injured in these blasts. The condition of more than two dozen people is stated to be serious and the death toll is likely to increase. A number of persons have lost their limbs. About 23 thousand persons were participating in this 116 years old marathon and hundred thousands of people were standing on road sides to cheer the participants. The dead includes an eight year old child Martin also. Pressure cooker bombs were used in these blasts. Black bags containing six litre pressure cookers filled with nails and metal pieces, had been kept by roadside. Pressure cooker bombs have been used in some of the terror strikes in India. The US Government had left no stone unturned to make the country safer after the 9/11 incidents. A little suspicion would lead to the suspects put under surveillance and unprecedented security arrangements are immediately made at the Airports in the country. This security was unprecedented in the history of America and thanks to such elaborate security arrangements, that terrorists dare not attack America after 9/11. It, therefore, appears that this is not an act by international terrorist organizations like al-Qaeda and the likes, but home-grown terrorists in America are more likely to be involved in these blasts. The time and occasion for these blasts was very carefully decided. The Boston marathon is not just a sport meet, but it is the identity of Boston city and it is the biggest festival of the city. Being organized regularly since 1897, this sport meet is among the oldest and largest marathon races in the world, in which thousands of people participate. The race is organized on the occasion of Patriots Day. The internet has benefited the mankind in a number of ways, but its modern web sites have also opened windows for obtaining technologies for persons pursuing the business of terrorism. The development of IT has also provided people with easy access to information about making nuclear and small lethal bombs. Sitting in the comforts of their homes, they can easily access to such information and in America, the technology is highly advanced. Moreover, freedom of speech in America has allowed destructive and militant ideologies to flourish. The internet has opened a number of new avenues for the dissemination of these dangerous ideas. The internet has proved to be a boon for the growing global terrorism. The attack on Boston marathon is, in fact an attack on a cultural heritage and its impact will be felt world over. We are with the grieved persons and would like to convey to the near and dear ones of the victims of these terror attacks that in we are with them in their moments of grief and sorrow. We strongly condemn such dastardly attacks.
